In your own space, share your love for a trope, cliché, kink, motif, or theme. (Or a few!) What makes it particularly appealing for you? What do you like in fanworks featuring that trope?
Snowed In is a favorite trope of mine. If I was banned from both 'snowed in' and 'hot springs' I don't know what I would write!
I like the shutting out of the outside world, societal pressures and expectations, the stress of people coming by. Who are the characters when all that pressure is lifted? I also like focusing on a sense of place. The details of a cozy cabin become more important and worth lingering on.
If characters are snowed in at home, there is reason to look at it with new eyes. If you add in creeping cold, power outages or other hardships, suddenly the context of the familiar place shifts. Hot cocoa becomes much more of a treat, the fluffy throw is no longer just decoration.
Now that I am thinking about it, there is something optimistic about snowed in fics. The characters have what they need, they just might not see it. Also, cuddling for warmth can be a thing.
