* One of my favorite bands just booked a show within walking distance of my house! The show is currently unannounced, but if you know me you can probably guess what robots I am talking about. I just got the pre-sale announcement and sort of blinked at it for a minute.
* I decided to cancel my beloved Sketchbox subscription because I hate waste and not every box is great for me. Then the bastards sent me a box with a ruler and liners meant for doing isometric design, which is my current big project. I didn't know this one ruler existed and I've loitered in multiple art shops, searched online and even watched youtube videos of isometric design to pick up on hints or tools. This tool isn't magic, but it will help me with certain specific things that are very tricky. The ruler I'd been using is a pain and has rough edges I need to be careful of.
Finding good art supplies and not running into strange pitfalls with them is very fussy. That is part of why I loved the art supply subscription was because I realized things like the techniques I kept trying to do just wouldn't work on the paper I had. The first time I used Rendr paper it was like 'wait, suddenly I can do things'.
I photographed my recent iso drawing, but hadn't scanned it yet:
I am slowly working on my next one. Bit of a different format this time, more zoomed in. And I am also working on non-iso stuff so I don't lose those skills, what little I have.
* Speaking of art supplies and waste, I have a stupid number of pens right now. Some of them are fantastic, but just way too many. I am trying to challenge myself to actually use some up so I have less. But if I manage to go through some of these Karin or Pitt pens I am less fond of, I'll grow used to working with them and want more when they are gone. I should just add a lot of these pens, fineliners especially, to the donate pile.
