If I knew 2020 was going to involve me listening to country music and wearing a bandanna around my face, I would have gotten a cowboy hat and nice western shirt to complete the look. I do have some decent boots at least.

Trying to have some semblance of a routine and social time during all this I joined a local line dancing group that is meeting on Zoom. Turns out that they expected people to know like 2 dozens dances by heart with no caller. Not really a beginner group. Also, some of the group members who showed up have since moved from the area, but wanted to chat with friends. So, it was roughly the opposite of what I expected, more like walking in on a reunion than dance instruction.

Trying to adapt isn't going great. I am getting really worn down by 'ha ha this is easy for people in fandom' type takes, and it's making me want to stop engaging in some of the few social spaces I have.

I hear you. Oh boy do I hear you. I am glad staying inside and alone is easy for some people; it is not easy for me.

I can't even talk about how bad this is for me socially, life goals wise and financially because it's too much. I'm glad others are doing well, but takes like that just make me feel like I don't even belong in fandom.

Oh, that sucks about the line dancing group - maybe there's a more open one out there? Don't give up!

My mum is linking line dancing tutorials on facebook, and while my knee won't let me do that, it's a very cheering thing to watch and think of all the people pushing their sofas back and dancing away in their living rooms.

I am trying to connect with local groups and being more active is a plus. I am just not finding much out there yet. It makes sense, trying to get online groups going takes some momentum and a lot of people feel run down right now.
