Good news and bad news.
I've been doing Noom since Dec 9th, just over a month, I am down 10-12 pounds. It's hard to really nail down weight because hydration levels or other things skew it so much. My clothes fit better. It's really noticeable when I wear one of my jackets. I am losing weight at a very good rate and am still eating when hungry. I was 200 calories over yesterday, I don't care. If I am hungry I am going to eat something.
That's the good news. Here is the trickier part. I am a lot heavier than I thought I was. I was going in my closet last night and found my 'emergency back up pants'. They are from when I was at my height of medical weight gain and I keep them just in case. Having to buy bigger clothes is humiliating, so I keep a few 'big' things around in case I am in a car accident again or whatever. I tried them on to see how loose they would be ... and they fit perfectly. Not what I was expecting. I am down 12-ish pounds and just barely fit in my emergency back up pants.
Actually, I am down more than 12. I lost weight even before I started weighing myself. My weight got really up there mid-pandemic. I don't know, but I'd guess I am down 20-25 overall from when I started trying to get back into shape. And, I have 20 pounds to go before I even hit ... where I thought I was. I checked some older weight tracking and yeah, I was very in denial about my starting point.
Where I thought I was starting from and where I am starting from, totally different places. That's pretty frustrating. I am trying to not feel frustrated because things are working. I am losing weight at a good pace. If I keep this up for a few months, that is going to be amazing for me. If I dwell on how pissed off I am at this reality check, that's going to just sabotage me.
Just a note, if anyone googles Noom you'll see articles saying it costs $50/month. It did at launch, but now it's sliding scale and goes down to a dollar a month if you want. I can review the program if anyone is interested. I really like some things about it, but not others. My current plan is to use it for a while and then switch to something else like maybe just checking my own weight monthly.
