I am not going to bother sourcing all this, but it's mostly John Roger's twitter. If you want a source for any just ask and I can find it pretty easily ... by keyword searching one of the Leverage discords I am on.
Leverage: Redemption is going to be 16 episodes. It was originally going to be 13, but 3 more were ordered.
They've had a lot of production disruptions, between lockdowns and the winter storms. Gina Bellman turned to twitter to ask how to deal with frozen pipes and not being able to wash her hair. Christian Kane's Dad died around Christmas and he was gone for an unknown amount of time. I keep hearing it was due to Covid, but I haven't seen anything from CK himself confirming that so I am not sure.
Some of the main cast have been filming around other projects. Nothing has been said so this is pure speculation, but it's possible those shows had production problems as well that may have impacted Leverage.
Some recent John Rogers comments om twitter:
You can tell we're a year into lockdown because the focus of the Leverage writing I'm doing is less smashing evil oligarchs and more five page scenes of the gang hanging out in the bar, just chilling together, talkin' emo.
"Hey John, you're a consulting producer, so we really just need you for your weird crime and oligarchy knowledge" "Here's five pages on friendship while Parker tests drill bits."
From here
I'm excited, but I am also expecting some wonkiness due to the production team dealing with one damn thing after another. I am super looking forward to Breanna Casey. I am also hoping that the shoot being extended might mean more episodes with Hardison.
