Honestly, it's taken me by surprise. There is just something about Leverage that isn't in an other show for me and I'd kinda of forgotten how much I liked it. Having that and my Christian Kane fandom come back was sort of a double whammy. I had some shit going on in my life around season 5 and barely took it in. And then I wasn't in any fandom seriously for a long while because I was sort of looking for the next Leverage-type thing and nope.
Anyway, I've been working on an Eliot cosplay for Halloween. Now that I have a clue what I'll be doing for Halloween. My main problem is trying to visually distinguish between Eliot and CK. If I wanted to cosplay the actor it'd be easy. I could source certain T shirts, add cowboy boots, etc. But going in the other direction is trickier because Eliot mostly wears CK's clothes and accessories. Some characters often have a distinctive item, or curl to their bangs to easy way to shorthand what they are going for. There is a word in cosplay circles for this sort of distinctive trait or accessory, but I can't remember.
Ironically, Eliot Spencer doesn't not have a very distinctive something I can use for visual clarity.
The brown headband lets me wear a bandanna like he does. It doesn't show, I just fold it around and it works pretty good. His guitar pick necklace has some sort of pattern on it, but because that's CK's necklace I am not going to try to copy the pattern. I want a sort of generic one with the right clasp, which I got. So, I am set there. I am sort of amused by having a massive supply of ball chain if I ever need it.
The bandanna isn't perfect, but I doubt I can source the exact same pattern.
I am breaking in the wrist cuffs on photo walks. I enjoy them.
Items I need -
* Wig - Haven't started on this yet, but I could
* Shirt(s) - I have some time to work on this and I should be skinnier by October. I am still trying to keep an eye out for possible shirts. Eliot wears very different shirts in the new season from what we've seen. He usually wears thick layers, cozy but closed off. In the new show he's wearing lighter fabrics ... which likely has more to do with warmer temperatures in the south than anything but it gives a more approachable feel, less like he's hiding his body. There is definitely a meta that could be written about his change in appearance that would be fun, but likely a weather thing and not anything else.
I could try to source a shirt that is the exact same as on the show. Dedicated cosplayers do track down the exact shirts characters wear. Or I could go for an OG look. Not sure yet.
* Pants - Same. I could try to get pants in very out of fashion cuts or I could try to copy his current ones. Again, can't buy these for a while. Pants are fussier to fit.
* Shoes - I am likely going to wear Sorel wedge boots for a bit of height even thought it's not the right silhouette.
* Other items? Belt buckle? IDK
