If you've seen the news about Naomi Osaka withdrawing from the French Open due to the mental health strain of dealing with the press, I'd like to post this 2020 US Open interview add some important context. Content Warning: White person being painfully tone deaf about BLM. All her masks are BLM related. This is the shit she's expected to put up with.

I don't know exactly what is going on with the tennis scene right now. I was very into following tennis when I was younger, but now I don't know much outside of the fact that both she and Serena Williams are awesome, amazing, iconic and both deal with some serious bullshit they shouldn't have to deal with.

I read a few articles on it and none mentioned the weird crap she gets asked, and I think that is important.

It really is ridiculous how this whole thing played out. SHe deserves better, as does Serena WIlliams.

Agreed, and the lack of context in most of the articles I saw trying to look up more information was insane. I don't actively follow tennis these days and I knew more context!
