Initially, the same model that was dead on weeks out about the PNW heat dome was predicting another for the 14th, but that model has changed. It's no longer within the prediction rage for the Willamette Valley.

The fireworks restrictions likely had a good impact on air quality and I hope they become permanent. I think people setting off fireworks during smoke events really soured even the hold outs.

Summer ain't over yet, but we are at least dodging some bullets.

And if we don't, Alaska isn't far and has dropped with covid travel restrictions. I've never been to Juneau. And next summer I will be in Not!Oregon. I don't know where, but I am not going to be here.

I'd love to see Juneau, but hopefully for fun and not to dodge smoke. We'll see how thing shake out.

also, more of the fireworks ban; even though I heard some, the number of bangs was much-lessened, which Olivier and I appreciated

Yeah, some people ignored the ban but it was much, much less than usual and my neighborhood didn't wind up smelling like a fart.

Assholes refusing to just quit it with the fucking fireworks already are driving me up a damn wall.
