I was on the Connecticut subreddit and they are having smoke and air quality problems from the west coast fires like Oregon's. South of here there are clean air centers, kind of like warming centers for cold snaps but it's filtered air for people looking to get out of the smoke.

But the valley is still clear due to wind direction and last I checked there is no imminent chance of it changing.

I mean, I knew Ohio was being effected, but Connecticut? Apparently air currents are keeping it north and it's hitting NY and CT.

I live in southwestern NY (south of Buffalo, near the PA border). It has been extra hazy here for the last couple of days, and the moon has been yellow or orange, even at zenith.

That's unsettling. I hope it's not effecting the ground level air quality too much.

It hit Vermont pretty bad yesterday too. I had no idea why the moon had appeared so red the night before until I read the news. :/ My town is in a valley surrounded by (not very high) mountains so the haze really settled in in an unsettling way.

Smoke can settle into valleys and stay. That's why I've been keeping an eye on smoke reports. We don't know how had the air quality was in this valley last fall, because it was worse than our air sensors could measure. It was like that for two solid weeks.

It's been too hazy here to see the city or the mountains clearly, but CO is at least part of the west, so it makes sense here. Ugh. And while we've had air quality alerts every day, and most people I know have at least some allergy symptoms, it's mostly not DANGEROUS.

I'm very glad your area has stayed clear.

"Clean air centers" is not the kind of dystopia I'd hoped to be in.

Someday it will be outside of Vegas! Last I was there, they did have flavor Oxygen bars. Also, one of the attractions of the Ice Bars was getting out of the smog. I swear that's why the Ice Bar felt so refreshing.

I've never been to Vegas, and haven't done more than drive through parts of Nevada, but that does not surprise me.
