I went to the Santa Clones today! The Columbia company store is near there and I went on the way. I really needed new stuff and the store had most of what I needed. Going there was a good idea.

The problem was that I had a bag of clothes to carry the rest of the day. I was keenly aware that the medium clothes in the bag where going to replace a lot of XL clothing I was wearing. I'd be warmer, drier, look better, etc if I tossed my old clothes and put on new ones. Also, I'd be able to make a little package of the rest of the items that I could strap to my camera backpack. But, my old clothes are going to a thrift store not a garbage can so I just carried all the stuff.

I hate white or light colored jackets, but I also tend to walk in the rain and dark of a city that hates street lights. So I bought a mostly-white, thin, package raincoat. It's going to replace a raincoat that is dark green and three sizes larger. Hence, ugly raincoat.

I walked a bunch, took the bus to the store, bought groceries and ... the bus never came. I probably walked 7 miles, and then had to carry my groceries home 2 miles in the rain. I usually carry groceries home, but from a much closer store. Trimet is having staffing issues. Staffing issues are going around! Anyway, I assume that is why I just sat there in the rain for a while and no bus. Also, on my whole walk home I only saw one bus and I was almost home anyway. Should have been 4 or 5 buses in that time.

Since I was planning to bus home, I'd bought beer and other heavy items. I am so tired.

That is a LOT of walking. And carrying.

I bet you're tired. That sounds exhausting - I'm sorry you had to walk extra with heavy shit.

But glad you got new clothes!

I *hate* not being able to try on clothing. Sizing is so inconsistent, and then different cuts can fit completely differently anyway. It's part of what keeps me from wanting to buy things online, too.

Sizing charts are the kind of thing that SHOULD be helpful, but in practice seem to always steer me wrong. Clothing that fits right makes such a difference!

Right? Vanity sizing is the bane of all clothing fitting ever anywhere, whether it's the assumption that people are self-measuring wrong, or putting a smaller number on bigger clothes to flatter the clientele, I hate it!
