* It's snooooowing and the weather service has been posting to let us know all those booms and the 'light show' are the transformers blowing because of the sudden change in load. Just heard about a dozen loud boom-de-booms near me, but I still have power. Ah, Portland infrastructure.

I should be part of the problem and turn the heat on. And, like charge things.

In fairness, there was a transformer on fire in Gresham not too long ago when it wasn't snowing; at least these ones have an excuse.

The first booms were Forest Park, though. I feel like we've had 20+ transformers giving us a light show a few times in the past few years.
