* I've been readings bits of Refuse To Be Done. It's one of the writing books I picked up at the start of last year when I did my project to read a bunch of books on writing. I didn't get around to this one. So far, it's pretty good. Nothing new so far, but it's good writing advice presented with a 'take what works, drop what doesn't' mindset instead of being very prescriptive. And while nothing I've read yet is new, it's good to be reminded of some things. So far, glad I got this one.

* Waiting For This is maybe done? This is the getting-together fic I wrote because I was stuck on an established-relationship fic. I decided to make that fic it's own thing and it needed a LOT of editing because is started as a bunch of free writing and I was like 'hey, I like some of these bits'. I had to cut like half of it to make it cohesive and kept not wanting to cut so much. It's done, but since it's a set up for a different fic some things are obviously unresolved. Not sure whether to post it as a bittersweet stand alone and later add the other fic as a sequel, or wait until I finish the other fic.

* 80-90% of my VHS Piracy fic is very edited and polished, but this last bit is going to take some time. I would just post the first half, but this fandom is rightly suspicious of WIPs. Which is also why I am considering holding off on Waiting For This.

I have some vibes and dialogue in my piracy fic that I really want out there. It's tragic that I actually need to finish this fic if I want the fic to be finished.

* I haven't gotten kudos emails in a few days even though I have gotten kudos? I am sure AO3's emails are working or I'd have heard the fen panicking by now. I'll just wait and see I guess. I have checked my spam folder.

I'm happy to find any source of advice that takes that kind of "take what works, ditch what doesn't" attitude... too much of what I found when I first started looking years ago was very THIS IS THE ONE TRUE WAY (UNLESS YOU WANT TO BE A FAILURE FOREVER YOU WANNABE) and eesh.

Hmmm... I can see it going either way on posting the get-together now or once the second bit is done. If you do post it sooner, I'd put it into a series marked incomplete, and maybe leave an author's note stating that there is a followup intended. Not that that does anything to fix the WIP sideeye, but could help to set expectations for the broader story arc.
Or maybe post it once you feel the other story is getting close to done, so there's less of a wait between parts?

It's tragic that I actually need to finish this fic if I want the fic to be finished.
LITERALLY, though! This isn't fair!

Weird on the AO3 emails... I haven't gotten a kudos email in several days, but that doesn't necessarily mean anything; I very well might not have gotten any in that timespan. Comment emails seem to be working, as I did get one of those yesterday.

Yeah, I've seen some TERRIBLE writing advice out there! I hope this one stays good!

Knowing how to post stuff (or how to tag, summarize, etc.) is always such a crapshoot it feels like. Since you know you're going to write the second part to this fic timeline, maybe it makes sense to wait at least for a little while, until you're getting closer to ready to start posting that second part.

I hope the emails have arrived to you!
