I should write out the actual list and track my progress or something.

Holy shit, a trans novel I actually like? I didn't know that was allowed! It's about a vampire who works as an archivist, and also he's a trans man and a former slash writer. The author is about my age and in a podcast I listened to, the one that made me pick up the book, he talked about slash as a space to have connection to a male identity because other AFAB people are writing men, the details of male bodies and experience, etc. Not an ideal space, but during certain eras that was the one space some people had.
A few things about the book didn't didn't click with me and sometimes it got a bit overly abstract, but overall I am very glad I picked it up. When is the last time I read something by someone who is like... similar demographics to me? Have I ever? IDK So yeah, very interesting to read from that aspect.

It's an m/m/m book that was recced to me and I tried to finish it out of principle. Too many things hit my DNF list. But, I couldn't. Despite having a trope I was very interested in reading, it was just a mess. The trope I was after was an m/m pairing going to a third person who loved them 'oh we want you, too' and pulling him into the relationship. I honestly forget what my biggest problem with the writing was because my brain just erased that space once I stopped trying to finish it.
