* There is a new game out from the people who created Myst! it's called Firmament and... it's a mess. For me it was unplayable due to bugs. I checked out a Let's Play to make sure it wasn't me failing to understand the puzzle. Nope, not me. Also, in the YT video by someone who probably plays games for a living and has an amazing PC set up, it was laggy and stuttering. The art is gorgeous, but you can't even walk up to most objects. It's invisible walls everywhere. Also, try to explore in any direction the game doesn't want you to and you'll get stuck and can't even reload to solve the problem. I kept having to restart the game. Also, from the YT video I realized that I wasn't getting the story narrator.
The game is beautiful and I am very curious as to what the story is, but yet another puzzle game turns out to be a mess. Also, with how contrived the puzzles are it's like... I don't know if there is an answer to the mystery that would be satisfying. It has some 'mystery box is empty' red flags.
Since it was a Steam purchase I was able to get a refund, but now I am itching for a story driven game to play and not sure what to do
* Puts It has been 3 days since I posted about so-called-ai sticker in journal. I am trying to avoid the topic for a number of reasons... I'd explain but then I'd be breaking my streak! Unless something major happens, I am hoping to keep the streak going.
* I wanted to have tacos this week and everything's gone horribly. Both salsas in my fridge were furry. The one I bought is off. I bought the cheaper refried beans because cheap is usually still good, but they are stale and... soupy? Why soupy? The better kind I typically buy now cost $4.50 and even thought I *love* refried beans and will eat an actual bowl of them if I haven't had them in a while... I cannot bring myself to pay $4.50 for refried beans. I just, I cannot make myself do it.
My diet is usually rice-based and just wanted something different for a week and it's all been a mess. Tomato based products don't typically go off! Ah well, I have a lot of lettuce for salads.

Date: 2023-05-20 04:45 am (UTC)From:Oh man, I hadn't heard there was a new game out by them... which I'm maybe glad of, it sounds like, ha. Otherwise the disappointment would be more significant. Taylor and I replayed Myst/Riven/Exile a few years ago and had a very good time.

Date: 2023-05-20 09:12 am (UTC)From:Hopefully Firmament will get some patches. I think if you are into those games and know what it expects of you, you'll do better. I watched a few streams of it before I ordered my refund, just to see how it was going for other people. Right now the big problem is auto-saves. If you walk somewhere the game doesn't want you to, you can get stuck and reloading doesn't help.
