I'd heard the name Mr. Beast for a while, but I only started paying attention when he launched his allergy friendly chocolate during the whole Willy Wonka / misleading fasting video era of his content. Despite 'plant based and only 4 ingredients' being his big PR push for it, most of the types of bars he put out have more ingredients and also milk. I went to my corner store to find out that it was just overstock from another store. They only had the milk kind and I don't think they are going to restock it. So, no cheap and convenient chocolate for me.
So, I went all the way to a Safeway because they allegedly had every Beast product in stock. They did not, but I know that's often unreliable info. They did not have the allergy friendly cookies or gummies, but they did have that 4 ingredient chocolate bar.

The display was messed up and it felt like someone had broken up the first few bars of each box. Everything around it was tidy. To this I say... Good job Portland. (I have a very specific reason for this response, ask if you are curious)
Anyway, the chocolate was pretty much exactly what I expected. It's really good. Using just cocoa butter as a base is really good for the flavor and smoothness. No preservatives like the butyric acid present in Hershey's chocolate, which is why Hershey's tastes so bad to people who aren't used to it. Not only is is good, but if someone has only had Mars or Hershey's chocolate this is going to be a very different experience of chocolate than what they are used to. The first time I chocolate that had no milk or butyric acid I was blown away by the cocoa flavor.
Not to sound like a horrible chocolate snob (which I probably am, but that's a by product of only being able to eat more expensive kinds anyway), a lot of things in most American made chocolate bars dull or get in the way of the flavor. Also, having a very high cocoa percentage can be yummy, but having non-dairy bar that is more of a medium dark so the cocoa flavor can really open up is surprisingly rare. It's actually very similar to Pascha 55% Barely Dark which is probably my favorite.
