* The new tumblr layout has been inflicted on one of my accounts. It's making me not want to open the tab because it looks like just the twitter UI. It's actually making me stressed. Which is interesting, literally the visual of being logged into twitter causes me stress.

* Thaaaat's all I got. Police kept claiming some murders were where unrelated, and they were all 'oh hey we caught the serial killer'. It's hot. Lumber mill burned down and wrecked the air for a bit, but should be clear soonish. Weekend still looks promising. I cannot yet do Yoga with Adrienne's full 30 minute foot yoga routine, but I am working up to it and holy Benji is it helping.

I basically never use tumblr desktop, but I'm afraid to even look at mine.

The "copying homework" memes were at least a bit funny. But dear god is it obvious. Yikes.

I saw a headline about the "oh hey, we think this was a serial killer actually" thing, but lost the article when I switched apps. Yuck on the air, but glad it should be short-term.

My photog blog has been spared for now, but my fandom one is wrong. It feels wrong. I'll deal eventually if they don't revert it, but man it's dumb.

Bleh. I know that a lot of UI changes are unpopular, because change is bad, and then everyone adjusts... but this one seems legit bad. It really is just mimicking Twitter, and it also just... isn't visually good.

Yeah, it's also weird to kill 15 years of brand identity. They've made UI changes before, but have never chased other website's designs.

Right? I think the obvious "copied someone else's failing homework" is really the weirder part. It's so *obvious*, and I guess it's an attempt to make the switch more "seamless" to potential twitter refugees or whatever, but like... chasing design from the website you *know everyone is fleeing* and are *still making tee hee jokes about, like with that 601 post badge* just looks... weird and pathetic?

Yeah, the badges are pretty weak and dumb. Silly ones like 'liked a cat picture' would suit the site better. Weird to throw away such hard won brand identity

Yeah, the site has plenty of "in-jokes" or cute options that would have been better than "trash-talking twitter while actively apparently trying to look like twitter". (The "important blue checkmarks" - absolute fucking gold. "We've fucked the UI, but post limits amirite" feels desperate.)

Throwing out a brand identity that's been pretty consistent through a lot of previous ups and downs feels like a misstep to me.

Then again, Twitter just outdid them hard on that one, so. Who's copying who's homework NOW?

Agreed, until now their promo and monetization ideas have been pretty on point. This is just so weird.

I'll adjust eventually, and also likely change the default color scheme of my tumblr, but it's weird how much it makes me not want to be there!
