I watched the Red, White and Royal Blue movie.
It was cute and fluffy. Most of the substance was cut out, but a lot of it wouldn't translate to a film. They flattened Henry from someone dealing with complex pressures and the mental pressure of knowing that his country's history and art have been straightwashed into 'my family doesn't support me'.
No real complaints about the film, a lot was always going to be lost in translation. Watching it I did become a bit more appreciative of how the book handles the complexity of representation and also being representation.
IDK the ending might feel like it came out of nowhere to someone who hasn't read the book. The characters are also less equal and it feels like the American saves the poor British Prince.
The leads had amazing chemistry, though. The scene towards the end where they hug-collapse should be studied as fine are.
