* For better or worse, 2025 is going to be the year I publish some original fiction. I don't know if it will go well. I don't know if this is going to be a waste of my time that leaves me nauseous with disappointment. I don't know if I am going to publish my current project as a series of short stories rework them into a novel, but I am going to put work out there.
I do have clarity on some stuff like what project is going to be my first and that I am going to self pub.
I sure picked a fuck of a year for this to finally happen. But, can't change the past.
* I ended the year by killing Santa Claus in a Mythenders one-shot TTRPG game at TPK. I got the killing blow. This was my first time running with FWD RPG PDX, which is a group dedicated to showcasing and teaching indie RPGs. While I enjoyed it, I am probably just stick with D&D from here on out so I can learn the system better instead of also learning other rules, like complicated mega-dice systems. But, I just really enjoyed murdering the spirit of Christmas. In Mythenders when you kill something you rip up the character sheet. I kept a few scraps as... listen the holidays are rough for me and this was a nice outlet.
* While I am confidently declaring that 2025 is the year I become a professional author there are things I intended to before the year ticked over... and I actually did some of them, but not all. These last few days are massively unproductive, but I think it's partially fighting off a cold. I feel like a zombie today. I am ending the year feeling like a half-dead pile of fail, but next year, I am going to get this done.
That Leyfarers/D&D stuff doesn't restart until mid-Jan will help a bit. I need to find a way to be more productive with all the time I am spending on the bus. It's an hour back, but there is 2 hours. Because the bus can be massively delayed, and often is when I need to cross the river, I go most of the way there, stop for dinner and then walk over. How long I spend eating I can be very flexible about to handle the logistics of it all. I can't really read or write on the bus, currently at least, maybe I could audiobook if I used noise cancelling headphone? I need a way to be using that time better.

Date: 2025-01-01 04:45 am (UTC)From:Congrats also on the cathartic killing blow and shredding of the character sheet!
(Though I can see the benefit of sticking to one system and really learning it as completely as possible, rather than a bunch of different systems. But I also like that they have something dedicated to helping interested players to learn new ones! There really is so much variety out there, from all I hear.)

Date: 2025-01-01 08:54 pm (UTC)From:Yeah, the FWD RPG PDX project is really cool, but I really need to figure out how to calculate how much a short rest heals me and get that knowledge to stick in my brain.
