As has been expected for a bit, The Arecibo Telescope in Puerto Rico has collapsed. This is a blow to science, but I keep thinking about iconic X Files scenes and all the other shows that mined the WOW! signal for paranormal or sci fi storylines.

Awww. That's so sad. I heard one of the Puerto Rican astronomers on the radio last week, and he was just heartbroken.

Oh, what a shame! I had no idea the structure was unstable. This is heartbreaking.

Yeah, some people were trying to save it, but I guess that fell through.
