It's renewed!
I was pretty sure it was at least a few weeks ago and they were putting off the announcement while the studio was focusing on hyping Alex Rider. In a recent interview, Dean was asked about Leverage getting renewed and he did the whole thing where he almost gave an answer without thinking about it, stopped himself and went 'uuuh... we're hopeful!' Also, one writer already posted to twitter that they'd been working on the new season and can finally say so. I could be wrong, but signs point to me being right that the renewal either officially happened or was being treated like a sure thing.
Noah has said he'll come back to direct, is doesn't know if he'll be back as an actor. It's likely that when he gave that interview that discussions had already happened. Hopefully him being coy means 'yes, I just couldn't say anything yet'. Ideally, the show will totally pretend Harry is gone until a few episodes in when they go steal him.
If Harry is not back, I will be sad, but Noah was fantastic as a director. He did the Unwellness Job and was responsible for how the jade dildo joke was worked in. His interview on the aftershow really show how perfectly he got the show's tone. If he's back only as a director, I wouldn't be mad at it. He really brought something to season 6 and one way or another, he's bringing something to season 7.
I haven't done like a big season 6 review because the things that didn't work for me about the season, and the one big problem I have with it, was possibly due to production chaos and needed to do re-writes without the writers around. I just hope season 7 tightens up on a few things.
Speaking of which, season 6 was canonically post-covid. We're still not as 'post' covid as the season 6 setting. I wonder how they will handle that?
I still want an episode that is Eliot taking a nice nap on the couch for an hour, looking cozy and his family tucking him him in, leaving a cup of tea for him, etc. I could watch an hour of that.
I want Quinn back. I want very shippy hitter bonding time.
But mostly I want to finish some fic before S7. The good thing about an upcoming season is that fandom will be more active. So once my longer projects are done, there will still be readers. That's cool :) I have some in progress I've talked about and some I haven't... I also might get a 3rd AO3 account and toss some drawerfic up on that and see what happens.

Date: 2021-12-10 02:53 am (UTC)From:It's definitely great timing for the show to be back now, and I'm actually fannish about it finally. So maybe I will be in a current fandom finally! I'm working on a couple of fics myself.
Yeah, Eliot needs a nice vacation, rest, and someone taking care of him. He deserves it too!

I hope your writing goes well. I am going to try to get some work done tonight. I've been mostly working on some drawer fic just as practice, but I want to get back to my train fic.
