* I made a post over on IndeedSir with resources for the possible LJ closure. That fanbase has a large Russian contingent and the fandom's 'heyday' was on LJ. So, it would be a big impact. It has links to things like Wordpress imports of LJ, etc, if people want them.
* My plans to peel back how much I am playing the new gaming content isn't going well. Time to put in some strict limits. I am winding up overly tired.
The difficulty of the new content is causing some drama, and that drama is often being misrepresented for internet points. We knew that the content would bring back a massive amount of people who hadn't played since 2014, and a lot of people did prep like guide and *cough* trading post speculations based on that. What didn't occur to me and a lot of other people is that people often revert to old behaviors when they are back in old spaces. We have a lot of people who last played during gamergate and they think lying, death threats, coordinated harassment is what people do in MMOs. For a community whose drama is usually one streamer said another streamer's DPS rotation could be tweaked this has been a bit of a system shock to the community.
It's super weird to suddenly have discussions and be hearing rhetoric I haven't heard since those days. I have a feeling it's already blowing over since a lot of it is being met with people being utterly baffled by it. Like, why lie about Teapot? Everyone knows Teapot. I think the weirdness with persist on the game's subreddit for a while because it's mostly inhabited by people who longer play and like to whine that everyone who uses twitch is caught in parasocial delusions. It's very 'old gamers yelling at clouds' over there. In reality a major reason people hang out on twitch is to talk the game while avoiding that mess of a subreddit.
I could easily post several paragraphs on all this... and have a few times. I sort of kept writing it, deleting and going 'okay... short version'. There is a lot more nuance to this including a usually awesome streamer having some bizarre takes at first... My head is just very stuffed with GW2 / GW2 community info.
