Things I am watching besides a male burlesque performer stream Guild Wars 2 PVP. (No joke, that's what open in my other tab)

* I'm rewatching Constantine. I've give my take on it before, but it was a while ago. Matt Ryan is amazing in the role. It's so tight to the source material. While such a close adaptation working as a TV is an impressive feat, I'd rather they updated a few things like some of the terms.

* I am trying to watch Our Flag Means Death. Gay pirates brought to us by Taiki Waititi. I am going to keep slowly watching it to see if it clicks with me. I love some Waititi stuff, but some I just don't vibe with. I loved What We Do In The Shadows, but can't make it through an episode of Wellington Paranormal. He's apparently a producer and actor on OFMD but not a writer?

I want to like it. Maybe if I keep with it.

* I am also listening to the Malevolent podcast. I am several episodes behind, though. I'll get caught up at a point. They use a very interesting device to deal a a podcast's need to describe surroundings. It's a horror podcast where the demon thing inside of the guy has control of his eyes. They share a body, so the demon has to guide the human.

* I've dropped Gilded Age. Characters just do bizarre things to further the plot. It feels like that one rich couple are the only real characters on the show.

* I have been watching Euphoria. In parts it's amazing but as a whole it's a mess. Zendaya's acting is powerful on the show. I may post about it as a point, and how it has a slash writer as one of the major characters. But, eh, not tonight.

* I've just barely started Queer Eye: Germany, but will watch it when I've got time.

I made exactly two minutes of Our Flag Means Death before deciding I could not with it. I don't do well with second hand embarrassment, which seems to be the captain's whole deal.

Gilded Age I made 20 minutes.

I might just be bad at tv?

I'm amazed that I managed to vibe with both Ted Lasso and We Are Lady Parts last year, though the former was an American comedy with a different vibe, and the latter I made myself sit through the awkward bits to get to the punk band team love.

At least it's not bloody Secession.

My tumblr has blown up with Our Flag Means Death. I don't have HBOMax, so I don't have an easy way to watch it. It sounds like the kind of thing I'd like, but I also know how skewed the general tumblr impression of a show can be, haha.

Malevolent sounds interesting!

See, that's very much what I mean with how tumblr can give very skewed impressions of a show, haha. While I already knew the show was a comedy, from having seen a couple blurbs about it before, the impression from tumblr gif sets and flailing has been about ~the feels~ and omg queer storytelling!! Not that those things can't exist within a comedy, by any means, but... I get the feeling that the whole vibe of the show is not that.
(Not all comedy does it for me, and "painful social awkwardness" isn't my favorite species of it.)

It sounds like episode 8 is where everyone got extra enthusiastic? Maybe? I'm gleaning that purely from the fact my tumblr is still going wild, lol.
I can't quite tell if it would be my kind of thing or not. Gay pirates IS extremely promising! But it seems like it might not be the kind of comedy I enjoy. If I end up getting an HBOMax subscription (which I've been considering due to a handful of different shows and movies I've seen recced), I'll probably try to give it a watch and see if I like it.
