* Frank Iero is asking for feedback on having binders as merch. He was in My Chemical Romance and another member of MCR wrote Umbrella Academy. I still to this day haven't knowingly heard any music by them...

Anyway, it's just a touch too tangental to post to [profile] tranmediaclub I think?

* Today I go back to some video gaming, and coincidentally there is a new Devolver Digital game out! This is actually a co-incedance because I didn't know Weird West was an upcoming game until I heard about it last night, took a peak and saw who made it. I've played it a bit. It's hard and the controls a bit janky, but the game seems to be worth the effort.

I had a friend in high school who was obsessed with MCR, but I only ever listened to a handful of songs. (Liked 'em fairly well though.) The radio occasionally plays a couple of their songs and it always instantly gives me flashbacks to hearing the same songs on the radio as a teen.

A lot of the band members seem like pretty genuinely decent people.

But the idea of having binders as merch is kind of an interesting one. I wonder if something like that would sort of "normalize" them, or make them potentially more accessible.

MCR was tangentially my kind of thing, and I'm not sure why I wasn't ever into them more. They're kind of an interesting case in how their music has been treated - when I was in high school, they were "fake-goth" and uncool (if you weren't a fan)... now their stuff has aged well in the public opinion, or at least it seems like it. I should give their catalogue another listen, outside of the handful of songs that got a lot of play on my iPod, lol.

Normalizing binders would be a really cool thing!
