* Legal Eagle's NFT video was interesting. Turns out, a lot of images associated with NFTs... don't even have a copyright under US law? And we have case law precedent due to the monkey selfie case?? Iiiinteresting.

Basically, if was wasn't made by a human, no copyright. Machine generated images? The AI stuff or those dollmaker-style Bored Apes? There is no copyright.

My crappy fan art has more inherent value than any Bored Ape jpeg! There is a joke in there somewhere about Apes having no value because of a monkey.

Here's the video. At the end he talks about his video on the risks for artists and other creators... but it's a Nebula exclusive.

* The things Musky is promising for Twitter... should get it delisted from any app store. There is a reason there is no Ao3 app and why tumblr has basically a different version of the site for the Apple store.

The sale will take months to close. Elon isn't actually pro-free speech so me might be singing a different toon by then. But it's interesting.

There are some other conflicts and I've spent a chunk of time reading about a few. But I think the interesting one will be putting Musky in direct conflict with Apple and Alphabet, and also the EU because they are like 'hey, other countries with their own laws exist!'

On one hand I want to be hopeful, but I really think Musky doesn't care about anything except being able to control twitter with no oversight or the financial disclosures a public company needs to make. There is a possible chain of events were Musky could even lose the majority of his wealth over the sale being backed by Tesla stock... I think that's a pipe dream but keep in mind that people questioning whether Tesla is actually the future of cars could lead to Musky's wealth being deflated. (If stock falls too low he'll be forced the sell at the lower price to cover the backing and selling 44b of Tesla stock would further deflate the price and ... 2/3rds of his wealth is Tesla stock. Bill Gates has bet big on this happening by shorting the stock. Not that Bill Gates is a good person, but he cares about his legacy which means if he gets Musky's billions he will be less terrible with them.)

Anyway, back to drawing merman butts that have more inherent value than ape jpegs

Merman butts are ABSOLUTELY more valuable than ape jpegs. Always.

I know the "Muskrat loses billions, is disgraced and treated as the joke he is" is painfully unlikely, but it is a sweet dream.

But that IS really interesting that the images cannot even have copyright due to how they're made. That's good to know, and not an aspect I'd thought of.

It's almost certainly too good to be true/too much of a perfect fantasy to ever have happen, but it sure is fun to imagine happening, haha.

In the end, all that Musk is proving is that money can't buy class.
