So, despite plans to not watch until after Stranger Things is done, I watched Umbrella Academy.
And I want those hours of my life back. What the hell? The only character whose actions and motivations made sense was 5, but he was under *heavy* plot pressure to do what he did.
I kinda like 'end of the world so we are just trying to make the best of it' sci fi scenarios, but this one was dumb.
They went full 'our universe needs no rules or cohesion.'
Also, making Allison killing Harlan equivalent to anything?
I know it's not the ending-ending since they clearly set up a new season, but Allison getting everything she wants? Even magically deleting her season 1 husband? I mean, first of that still isn't Claire because the father is different and she was raised by someone else. Both nature and nurture are different. At best, it's a clone of Claire with most of her memories magically altered.
A lot of things don't track. Character wise, continuity wise, it was all a mess. The Sparrows-verse was not fleshed out in any way that made sense. Trusting Allison at the end??
Did some poking and I am not alone in this. Some people are just glad it's heavily implied Klaus and Ben fucked.
Comparing to the depth of some of the character moments in S2 was painful.
I wanted to see it so I could watch it unspoiled and then look at / chat reactions but, boy do I have regrets with how I spent my time this week.
