* First solid chapter of my post season 4 Stranger Things fic is up. I had a short prologue up at first so I could post just after the finale, but now I have a solid 5k up and and overall structure-ish in place. I should nail down the outline a bit more soon, but at least I have a solid chonk up.

* Oofles. Editing tablet is much farther along in it's slow march towards death. It's gone from fussy and having power problems to the CPU actually struggling to process input. (I've mentioned this before because I've been trying to keep the darn thing limping along for years) but when it dies I lose my licensed, no subscription fee, no dumb cloud BS copy of Lightroom. Unless there has been some class action against Abode I don't know about, I can't validate a new install on my fully paid for program.

But, this has gotten nuts. I don't know if I can even really do fine adjustments with the input lag.

* For the week the rest of Stranger Things dropped I set up a possibly cool bujo layout... that I still haven't finished. I will go back and work on it, but for now, look at how I made July 1 be a 1d4 that had rolled a one! and stuff



The idea was to make it look like a page a school paper that Dustin doodled Hellfire Club images onto. I will go back and do the doodles, but I am very proud of my carefully drawn composition paper?

Ugh, sucks on the tablet, though. :/ Super sucky you can't authenticate a new install on a new device. That's garbage. It seems like the kind of thing there should be a workaround for, but I'm afraid I don't know it.

Thank you! I am so proud of my... blank paper.

Ten years ago I might have been able to do a workaround on the Lightroom thing. But, right now? Unlikely. I'll still try when I replace this tablet, but it's unlikely.

It's really well-drawn blank paper! The lines are so perfectly parallel! (Except the one that's perpendicular, ha.)

Yeah, I wouldn't know how to try and make the workaround happen. With some devices I know I used to just be able to move the whole application/program file, including the install info, to a new device (which is how I used the same outdated license of too-old Word for a good decade across three computers.) But a lot of stuff now actively tries to thwart that sort of thing, or makes those files extremely hard to access... I wouldn't know where to start. :/

Adobe tried to target used like me with an ad campaign implying that using that using version was effectively piracy but they'd 'welcome us to the fold' with discounts rather than take legal action. The got in trouble for that ads. Adobe's been actively after users like me for years. That kinda doubly makes me not want to upgrade, but I also don't want to learn a new system.

Ugh, I remember when those ads were going around! And the really aggressive "warnings" about how these were illegal copies of programs. Ugh.

That really did seriously sour me on them as a company, even though they're nearly unavoidable. But learning a new program also sucks.

Yeah, I'm not sure what I am going to do when the day comes. I don't do deep edits, I keep it all very in-camera and true to the experience. But I have over a decade of using the same workflow and the specific LR work flow was one of the few things ingrained enough that I could focus on it after my brain injury. I hate Abode, but it might be worth it to keep the Familiar Thing.

Yeah, I can absolutely seeing it could be worth keeping the familiar thing and the easy workflow, even with the inherent downsides of Adobe sucking.
