This morning my alarm went off. The sky was dark orange. The AQ sites were all covered in angry dark colors. People on local comms who don't even need to go outside are complaining about the air quality indoors from what smoke has seeped in. So I went back to sleep.
I'd planned to go to Rose City Comic Con today. I didn't mention this because I was sick of posting about plans, and then posting 'hey guess what happened to cancel my plans this time?' Even though this con is indoors, I know from experience that from how people come and go at cons the indoor and outdoor air quality tend to be similar. Also, the wind is so strong power is just being shut off for hours at a time to prevent fires, not only outside the city but also large sections inside the city. Urban areas south of me are under evac orders. So, with that kind of wind the smoke is going to be sweeping into the con center constantly.
If tomorrow is a bit calmer I might go just for the dealer's hall. Every event I wanted to do is over or is not happening. Technically, one of the outdoor side events tonight is not cancelled, but we are in a smoke/wind storm so...
I mean, I had to run one of those 8 hour train noise videos last night because otherwise I kept being woken up by loud banging from the wind doing stuff.

Date: 2022-09-11 12:14 am (UTC)From:While I do get short term dizziness from smoke easily, for me it's also... when this was rare I didn't worry about long term effects. Now that it's not rare long term effects are more of an issue. I know a tanked a few wildfire exposures in my teens/twenties visiting relatives in California. Didn't effect me as much then and wasn't as worried about cumulative effect.
