* I am watching a full playthrough of the first The Last Of Us game after all. I am watching Insym's, which is a bad call. He is playing the PC port which is buggy and crashy, it's not his type of game play and he's talked over important conversations. It's a mess. But he's pretty much the main streamer / content creator for Phasmophobia so I'm familiar with him. It's kinda cool to see his reactions, even if it is a hot mess and he stiiiill doesn't quite get the core game strategies. Still, anyway, it's the one I'm watching.

* At some point we need to have a cultural conversation about the fact that robots and AIs in fiction are allegories for various minorities and/or being an outsider. Calling the current plagiarism bots 'AI' is a marketing term to pull at those feels and cultural conversation. We need to start drawing a bright line between these things. Ideally, pushing back on the term 'AI', but I doubt that will happen. There is a lot to say on this topic, and I am not going to ramble about it now. It's a big topic. I'm just going to post one of my favorite robot songs:

Yeah, there's a LOT of marketing behind using that terminology to refer back to a fairly ingrained trope. The sci-fi idea of an AI, going through the discovery of self and actual sentience is compelling; the idea of AI as an oppressed underclass that *has* that sense of self yet is abused makes for strong allegory, etc. ChatGPT isn't that, at all, but the marketing has clearly worked based on people's weird fucking reactions to it.

It really, really is. Not only because it's such an extreme version of parasocial interaction, but because that makes it SO much easier to manipulate people. The chatbot you're talking to doesn't have a heart or a soul or a brain, but the company making money off of it absolute has their own motives, and it's in *their* interests for you to feel certain ways about it.

They have have a way to automate social engineering of people. It's super not great.
