* I've seen references here and there that a lot of how ChatGPT and other programs operate rely on underpaid labor that the companies try to hide. Yesterday, African workers who labor underpins TikTok, Meta and ChatGPT pledged to establish the first African Content Moderators Union. They 'detoxify' the aps by moderating the worst content. The initial group is about 150 people, but they talk about the TikTok mods joining and that's between 40k-50k people according to other articles. 'AI moderation' relies on tens of thousands of people making between 1.50 to 2 dollars an hour. Also, it's very possible some of these workers are behind making OpenAI seem more sentient than it is, but having actual people behind the curtain.
