* With my VHS fic finally done and posted, I am up to 8 stories and about 40k words posted for the year.

* I am currently working on my FTM!Eddie long fic, the one I'd planned a while back. I don't think this is going to be my next fic, but I am currently making some good progress on it.

* I want to do something for the [community profile] ushobwri comm's New Horizons challenge and write something I haven't written before. No idea what to do yet. Part of why it's hard is that my brain is so wrapped up in these ongoing projects. I decided to poke around in my WIPs folder because it's probably got stuff I've wanted to write, but haven't gotten around to before and I found... a completed fic? WTF self? I'd started a Christmas Ronance (Robin / Nancy) fic for fandomtrees and had judged it 'not complete' when the posting deadline happened. But it's... fine? It could use a bit more ooph and editing, but it is 100% a completed fic. I should have just posted this. I guess I'll edit it a bit more and post it this December.

Or... I've never posted any Ronance or Femme Slash. I could use for this the New Hori... nope, nope, nope. I am not that much of a cheese monkey. I a not using this completed fic I found for the challenge.

So, still not sure what to do for the challenge. I just need to figure out something short and sweet that I can get done, and then pivot back to my projects.

That's a very good amount of writing for the year! :)

I don't think I've ever found a fic that I'd completely (or nearly) finished before, but I know at least once or twice I've discovered something that was far more complete than I thought. Sometimes something literally just needed a couple more pages to conclude it, yet had gotten abandoned for months or years!

It's not surprising, yet it *is*, how much your mentality and emotional state when writing a fic can impact how you feel about it at the time.

It seems like a lot of your writing-by-not-writing stuff was successful, though!

But yeah, it's rough to get over frustration or upset or plain unhappiness and how it impacts your writing or how you feel about writing itself.
For all the advice out there about channeling negative emotions into creative works, it usually just makes me resent the works themselves, heh.

Yeah, sometimes it's rough to do something like that, even when you know it's the right move.

And agreed. I know that writing (or any other type of art) can be therapeutic, but for me at least, I just *can't* work on things when I'm in the midst of a downswing of whatever kind. Whether it's trying to use the work to process those same feelings or trying to write something lighter as distraction, I just can't.
