It's been a year...

Don't mind me just having a time freak out on Memorial Day instead of New Year's. But, this is the one day of the year a spot I like to photograph is accessible and I'd decided not to go this year. But, it's sort of made me keenly aware that I just felt a lot better physically and emotionally at this time last year and... shouldn't shit get better not worse? It's tripping me out a bit.

Also, a lot of Stranger Things fans are making a big deal out of it being a year since Season 4 part 1 came out. But hey at least they are going on about something besides production start rumors that are complete bullshit. In that time I've written 11 completed Stranger Things fics! Not quite one a month, partially because I am currently on a very different project.

I'm sorry that it feels like last year was going better than this year currently. :/

Things SHOULD by all rights trend upwards, but unfortunately I've found it's a lot of up and down and feeling more cyclical than linear, sometimes. Which feels like bullshit.

Last year there was still a lot of hope about yeah communities coming together and possibilities and I tried a lot of things... and everything kept going to shit. Events would claim to totally still be happening right up until the start time and then be cancelled literally last minute. Events having booming DJ'd music that was not on the event description. Queer events 'for the whole community' and then I am the only person over 25 there...

Fuck at this point I have no idea what to even do

Yeah. :/ I really hate how basically the only queer meetup type things I've seen have all been 25 and under, even if they're supposed to be all-ages. I'd been hoping, after last year, to get more involved with trying to find some sort of irl space, but kind of just gave up without really trying. That's certainly my fault more than anyone elses, but... I don't have a lot of time or energy, and I don't have a lot of tolerance for disappointment.

It sucks. And I've heard multiple 30+ queer people say similar things regarding how hard it is to find any community that isn't focused on younger teens/young adults.

I am very tired of doors marked as being for me not actually being for me. I've been dealing with this... forever and it makes me feel like I am the butt of a cosmic joke.

That's very much the feeling. Being told "this is the door, the space, the table to sit at that's meant for you!"

...only to discover that the fine print explains how they didn't actually mean YOU.

Add in all the weird agism and people acting like people over 25 being around those poor 'young adults' is sus and it's like... I'm just so fucking tired

Ugh. For real. Either being over 25 is creepy and weird and you should go do your taxes, OR you should be a perfectly respectable, chaste Group Mom or something. (Yuckyuckyuck.)
