* Mask of the Rose is out! I've been waited ages for this! I am not going to talk too much about the game because uh, they are already working on a major patch to try to fix what a trainwreck this is. The setting is amazing. Most Fallen London games show a city that is already been adjusted to The Neath for generations. This is months after the fall, the strangeness is still settling in and people are trying to deal with old ways of being and laws no longer making sense.

I could go on at length about the gameplay problems, but the devs are well aware they messed up and are trying to fix things.

* I had other things to post about, but I forgot what. At some point I am going to do another Fanfic Trello post to try to organize the brain cells and at some point I am going to post about Pride and a few other things as separate posts.

An excellent skeleton.

Fallen London is a really cool setting, but you're right that most of what I've seen is a bit farther along the timeline, so closer to the inciting weirdness seems like a very good point to set something.

Usually in Fallen London games you're navigating the strangeness of people and society well acclimated to the horrors and fundamentally different existence of The Neath. It's a great idea, but something went super wrong with the game's development. Which is too bad because Sunless Skies and Seas are great. I was very Not Sure about them making an actual video game, but I was impressed when I tried them.

I think that both settings (or same setting, different points in time) have a lot of interesting points to them. Seeing how the world has changed, how the horror and weirdness has been normalized and has impacted the progression of the world is cool. But it's also cool when it's a "fresh" change.

But it's a bummer that this game is a mess. :/ If they're aware, hopefully they do manage to fix it.
