* I am now on the tiktoks. Reddit is in meltdown. I don't want to touch twitter. Increasingly it's felt like the place to follow creators I like is on tiktoks so... oh well. I already have more views and likes there than I've ever gotten on Youtube.

I hate tiktok, but I hate almost every platform so *shrug*

I don't have much video content. I was planning on starting a serious YT channel, was doing voice training and everything, before the pandemic. So, I mostly have like some experiments and attempts to grab B-roll for the youtube project I was working up towards launching. I don't even know what I'd shoot if I did more video, but I am going to drip various things I have onto my account there and just see what happens. At least I am name camped and maybe my brandname will be more out there?

Of course it turned out the creators who are all 'follow me on tiktok' have like 4 videos from like a year ago. I need to figure out who to actually follow... if anyone.

* I am sort of fascinated by a drama that's not happening in one of my fandoms. It's like, there is a major drama happening over in one place and the news just isn't filtering over to Fandomland. I don't want to get into it, or point out that 'hey, $person is directly involved with BAD THINGS' to fandom and start shit... but it's just weird how like all the ingredients for nuclear level drama are sitting right there and they just haven't been put in the same place.

* Maybe walking last night was a mistake. I am currently babying my right heel that's having a tendon problem again. Should be fine soon, but last night was rough. I did cut my walk short and take the bus home.

I hope that tiktok works for you! I don't like it, but also fully admit I just never put enough effort into "getting it" to make it work for me.

It's weird when you can see drama easily brewing... but never actually happening. It feels like you're just stuck waiting for it to boil over in some way.

Yeah, I doubt I will get into it for watching content. I watch tiktok on tumblr and stuff, but those are tiktoks chosen *by* tumblrers. It's different. As someone said 'it's toks that have been through at least two layers of peer review'

Still, it's probably worth my time to stick some content up there.

Yeah, and this drama is like... nuclear.

It's getting better, I just need to baby it to a dumb degree.

Definite same. Those levels of peer review are important to me if I'm going to watch things from tiktok, lol.

But I hope it works out well for you - having the name claimed and a place to post things is definitely worthwhile.

Oof. I hope the nuclear-level drama doesn't manifest... or if it's the sort of thing that should be more widely known, I hope it does? Which is a weird thing to say.

I'm glad it's getting better. Physical problems suck.

Re: the drama. It's a sticky situation. Someone has managed to skate by and not get hit with a few major dramas and overall it's not a great situation. And when people in the know clearly don't like her... their reasons are often misinterpreted as hating a rival ship. It's like no, she literally got involved with a bunch of people who are alt-right and support January 6 types. It's super public information. She's also pulled weird bullshit bragging about access to actors when she is an actor. She deleted her posts about knowing how [redacted] smells when it clearly wasn't going over how she expected. People weren't omg jealous like she expected, they were all 'that's your co-worker...'

I don't want the drama to happen, but mother of fuck could her nepo baby ass use a reality check. I am assuming she's not horrible, she just comes from so much privilege that she can't tell her ass from her elbow. But I could be wrong in giving her the benefit of the doubt. I am just attributing her actions to dumb and cluessless until proven otherwise.

Bleh. I've only ever really tried it on my phone, which basically forces you to use the app, which never worked well (I think on purpose: links to specific videos people would send me wouldn't load that video, they'd just repeatedly refresh my "for you" page. The links were good - they'd usually eventually work after four or five tries - but it seemed to reeeeeally want me to spend time on the main page.)

Oof. Yeah, that's rough. It's a generally crappy pattern when *petty* fandom drama (ship wars) winds up muddying the waters of *actual* "hey, this situation is fucked." Hating on actual people over ship drama is garbage and happens way too much... but the existence of that sort of pettiness provides a sort of smokescreen when people actually do something shitty, because pointing out the latter gets so easily dismissed as the former.

Incompetence vs. malice and all that... particularly someone who falls into that nepo baby camp could very well just not have any idea why something is bad or shitty or dumb. Or maybe she IS just super shitty, but it seems reasonable to suspect it could just be "clueless and stupid-obliviously-privileged."
