* Social media is a mess and... it's a mess.

* Decomposition book destroyed! I took one of my writing journals that I've had for too long, copied what bits of stuff in there I still wanted into either another journal or typed it over into the correct document. It had some real old stuff in there and I am glad to finally trash it. It had notes from a podcast I was on forever ago and also stuff for a major project I was working on that got derailed by the pandemic. I really needed to not flip through it anymore. This had made my writing world a bit more organized.

* I watched a horror film called Deadware.

It's about a haunted browser game being played by two friends
I liked it!

I could rake it over the coals for that not being how screen sharing works or url subdomains work. The acting was very 'school project' level of bad. Didn't like the ending. Anyway, don't care. The early internet vibes were amazing. Lots of little details. I knew people with that exact goblet. Yeah, it missed on a lot of fronts but it really hit on '00s internet flavor and internet creepiness.

To be painfully honest, the detail about the 'real vampires chatroom' really hooked me. I knew people who got into that shit. Whoever wrote this nailed a lot of things, just not plot or like dialogue. Also, the pacing and tension were actually good.

Social media is just... more of a mess than it seems should be possible.

Man, I can never bring myself to get rid of old journals. (Though I do at least try to use them up completely, now.) But nice job!

Oooh, I liked Deadware! For the same reasons - it nailed that 00s internet vibe SO well! It was definitely very micro-budget, and the acting was... eh, and the writing was... eh, and the ending wasn't great. But the VIBES and the detail of the setting and the look of the "game" were impeccable.

I'm glad the decluttering helps! (Both a physical and mental decluttering.)

The writing wasn't... great, and yet definitely had areas in which it *was*. So more inconsistent than anything else. The tension and pacing were good, and the details of the setting and time period were really great. The dialogue and the resolution were less so, but at least plotline-wise, it felt like the filmmaker was treating it as a sort of necessary scaffold to try and build the other stuff around... which isn't great, but. At least the better parts were there.
The internet culture stuff was super impressive. I've seen a lot of horror movies that hinge on some sort of "omg so-and-so got really into some weird internet group" that fall SO flat. A lot of times it feels like an out of touch PSA about what teachers think teenagers do on the internet, where this was like a time capsule, haha.
