Makeshift Fanfic Trello Thing

* What The Storm Brought In - I've got a completed draft. Right now it really needs to get put aside for a week so I can come back to if fresh and see the problems and make it more cohesive. It's currently at about 9k.

* Waiting For This / Where I Can't Follow - Waiting is at about 8k and is in pretty good shape, it's just that it's meant as a prequel / set up for Follow.

Follow was supposed to be a short Halloween fic for last year but the project grew and now I need to get it done. I am basically sitting on a completed 8k fic because I don't want to post it solo or as a WIP. I need to get Part 2 done because... sitting on Part 1 is kinda rough.

* Yes, it's July but I want to come up with some ideas for *actually short* Halloween fics so I've got something in my back pocket if an event or a week or something pops up. But every time I go 'what I've really like to write is...' I realize I am describing Follow.

* I do need to go back to that completed Librarians fic and polish it for posting.

* I drug out my incomplete Jooster Halloween fic from last year. I like the set up, it's based on actual era spoopy season party activities I've not seen in fic. I think I need to edit it down, rip out the subplot and post it as shorter, tighter fic that what it's trying to be now.

Basically, I have a lot of fics that are done-ish. I just need to figure out how to edit them into good fics.

I'm glad things have reached done-ish... but getting from there to done-done-and-happy-with-it can be the hardest damn part.

Also, I can't tell if I love or hate when I try to think of what I'd like to write... only to realize that I'm mostly describing a different WIP (or sometimes something I already wrote.) It's a bit frustrating to realize I have A Type when it comes to themes and tropes and dynamics I want to write about.

I definitely have patterns, but also I need to get this ideas out and done before I can move on. If I start a second fic along the the same theme I'll make myself dizzy! I can write cozy and costume sex again if I've stuck a fork in this.

That seems like a good plan! I love when authors have similar themes they come back to repeatedly - it's very much an extension of the whole "two cakes" thing. But yes, getting one finished before you work on another/know how you want to explore the same sorts of things again is probably very wise!

Yeah, if I write two at once they get sticky and mixed up in my head. There are a few things I will write infinitely, like stranded in snow. But they must be separate stranded in snow cakes! No getting the frosting from one onto the other.

That is a good philosophy! No cross-contaminating between the frostings, please! Each cake should get to be its own cake, no matter how many of them there are.
