* Heat is ramping down, still hitting well over a hundred during the day but still less each day. But now the smoke is moving in. It really sucks. I've been through worse but that is not a comforting thought. And so far no power outages.

* Tomorrow I should know if my laptop is salvageable. If it's not... I should probably go ahead and replace it but I feel very bleh about doing so, even though now that the grapics card market had crashed, good ones cost almost nothing compared to what they used to.

the haze today wasn't too bad, though my sister lives south, and she said the sun was red in the morning, with a grey/brown sky all day. it burned the eyes and was misery to breath. I'm glad we're not dealing with that, at least

The air is worse to the south, but it was bad enough today that I have a sore throat and my eyes are very irritated. AQI can vary a lot within the city.

yes, you're definitely right about air quality in different parts of town - I think my neighborhood gets some benefit from Gorge winds (unless the fire in *in* the Gorge)

Also I didn't know when I posted that one of the big fires in the city was near me. My throat is still messed up, and right now I am betting it was burning plastic I breathed. My throat doesn't usually react like this to just wildfire smoke.
