* It's not 100% confirmed but it's looking like Automatic is going to sell data from Tumblr *and* Wordpress.com to AI companies... I pay them money to host on Wordpress. I have to move my site and trash *years* of SEO building, remember how TF DNS migration words and... ufkc this shit

(Note - .net users should be fine as long as they disable jetpack, jetpack, the plug in considered essential for any serious content hosting on WP for like at least 15 years, yeah just delete that)

Also I need to learn a different content management system

* The worst part of the Somerton apology is that people with epilepsy and other disorders are feeling the need to explain that their disabilities don't exempt them from being responsible for their own actions and even people without disabilities can't keep everything in their head and *take fucking notes* to keep track of things. This all plays into much weird bullshit and people should have to feel that they need to do emotional labor to stop this bullshit.

Fucking fuck, re: both tumblr and wordpress. The wordpress part (despite the fact I don't use wordpress personally) feels almost worse. Tumblr is a social media site, and I EXPECT social media sites to try and exploit their users in increasingly shitty ways, even if it still upsets me when they do. It feels worse from somewhere you pay to host your own work. I'm sorry.

And yeah, fuck Somerton, still and more. I read someone's summary of the apology, and it is serious shit that he blamed "memory issues" for the choice to steal content. I have memory/attention issues that mean I can STILL forget to do a daily task at work, even after years of nearly the same routine, doing things I could almost literally do in my sleep at this point. SO I FUCKING MAKE LISTS AND NOTES FOR MYSELF. FUCK YOU, ASSHOLE.

Everything about the Somerton apology is enraging, and hearing Jessie Gender talk about how much help he was given and how much benefit of the doubt he's still getting, at least from her. It's just infuriating.
