So far new laptop setup has gone smoothly. I am going to spent about a week very annoyed at buttons being in different places and other things. I don't deal well with change, especially with my laptop. But, my last one had a lot of problems and, like I said, was bought when graphics cards where spiking in price by like 300% or more, this is a big difference. My Guild Wars 2 install file is no longer most of my C drive. I was legit worried what was going to happen with the next expansion and whether I'd even be able to install it.
Keyboard is being a little wonky, I don't know if I need to adjust to it or if I need to return this particular one. I suspect it just needs to be actually used a bit and the problem may resolve itself. This is such a difference needing to redo the set up wouldn't even bother me. I can actually use it in battery mode, the display is so much better, etc.
I cannot figure out what is beeping. I must find it and kill it... but there is still a chance this keyboard has a problem so I'll need to do set up again. Still, holy shit, no more cycling between charging mode and an un-usable battery mode at random.
On my old laptop, the main heat vent was literally hitting the plug and it was super heating. It's less a thing to fix and more a design problem to do weird jury-rigs around that involved taping my power cable in weird ways to avoid the heat and try to keep the connection. Some of the tapings involved running the cable around the front of the screen and obscuring part of it, somehow that was putting on just the right pressure to maintain a connection.
So, it was acting like I was constantly plugging it in and out. I think the only way to 'fix' it would involve modding the case itself.
This had become one of those things causing me tons of stress, and yet I was weirdly acclimated to the irritation. It took it suddenly getting much worse for me to finally switch.
